New Games for the End of November 2017

Posted on November 24, 2017 at 5:50 pm

With all the focus on sales at the moment, there isn’t much attention being given to new video games. However, there are still plenty being released at the moment. Here are some you can look forward to in the very near future:

  • Gear.Club Unlimited. This is a racing game that already exists as a free version of mobile. This new version, for Nintendo Switch, will need an upfront payment. Players compete against each other by racing cars, giving it a competitive edge.
  • Portal Knights. Another one for the Nintendo Switch, this game is already on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It is not dissimilar to Minecraft, with players needing to survive battles and quests but also create things along the way. You can play as a warrior, a mage or a ranger.
  • Mantis Burn Racing. Another racing game, this one is a little more arcade like. It’s a little like Hot Wheels and can be played as a local or online multiplayer game.

Are Indie Games Changing the Industry?

Posted on September 4, 2017 at 9:28 pm

Indie games now have a lot more influence and more developers are following suit. Even gaming boss Tim Sweeney, who runs Epic Games, thinks that independently developed games could be the future. He claims that games with enormous budgets are not necessarily guaranteed to succeed anymore and recently, there have been instances of these types of games making a loss.

So what does the future of video games look like? According to Sweeney, far more exciting. He thinks the most exciting work being done is independent game developers at the moment. This makes their games more appealing and more saleable.

Some of the most popular games to come from independent developers are Rocket League, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, Spelunky, The Stanley Parable and Kerbal Space Program. However, there is still a long way to go. Despite great successes in the independent market, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and other big franchises still tend to top the charts.

Grand Theft Auto – One of the Best Games of All Time?

Posted on July 14, 2017 at 1:51 pm

Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular games amongst gamers and has secured itself a place in gaming history. Many now consider it to be one of the best games of all times and it has a total of fifteen titles, including:

• Grand Theft Auto
• London 1969
• London 1961
• Grand Theft Auto 2
• Grand Theft Auto III
• Vice City
• San Andreas
• Liberty City Stories
• The Lost and Damned
• Chinatown Wars

The game is in the action-adventure genre, though one of the reasons for its popularity is the number of bases it covers. Gamers play as one character and, in more recent versions, can change characters part way through. They feature in missions and sub-plot missions where the main narrative of the story continues whilst also incorporating lots of other intricate details. It is this level of detail and the vivid storylines that attract many people to the game.

Finally A Mobile Game Version of Mario is Releasing!

Posted on September 14, 2016 at 4:14 pm

After years of pleading with Nintendo, Mario fans can finally get their wish… Super Mario is coming to Apple and Android smartphones and it’s going to be an official release!

The new embrace of Nintendo for the iPhone is years overdue. As the Japanese tech company had stubbornly resisted porting their most significant assets to mobile phones. Nintendo hoped that it could still convince tech fans to purchase Nintendo devices.

However, the fact that the Japanese tech company hasn’t unleashed a new Mario action video game since 2013, Nintendo intended to let gamers know that it is the new Super Mario. The video game seems to be well-designed for the iPhone interface.

The investors of the “Super Mario Run” claimed that the video game will be sensational. Considering the size of the installed base, “Super Mario Run” has the potential to be the most-played Mario game ever. The video game is putting the tech company where its audience lives, Wired reported.

Pokemon Go Shocker for Nintendo Shareholders

Posted on August 13, 2016 at 7:48 pm

You may have thought investing in Nintendo would be a great idea, what be it with Pokemon Go’s immense success worldwide… Well you would be wrong, as it has been confirmed that Nintendo don’t actually own much of the Pokemon Go game!

There’s still plenty of reasons to be optimistic about Nintendo’s future on mobile, even if Pokemon GO isn’t necessarily a huge money-maker for them. It is seen as a fundamentally Nintendo property – as the doubling of their stock price shows – and it shows that mobile players want Nintendo content. Nintendo’s fully-owned mobile apps could be a reason to invest in the company further.

Yes you’ve read the title correctly, but you’ll have to unlock it first, because the emulation of the Amiga classic is burrowed away somewhere in the main campaign!

“As fans of the original, we wanted to offer new players to chance to experience first-hand the game that inspired us and offer fellow fans of the original a chance to re-live it,” reads a statement by Heavy Spectrum founder Matt Birch.

Free DLC For Total War: Warhammer Available

Posted on April 18, 2016 at 4:37 pm

Unsurprisingly, this year’s Total War: Warhammer will add free content after launch, developer The Creative Assembly announced today. This new content, which is separate from Warhammer’s Part II and Part III sequels, includes new units, Lords, items, and races, among other things.

“For Total War: Warhammer, you can expect a selection of content covering more of the iconic good stuff you’ll see in the main game. From new units offering new tactical potential in battle, to new magic lores to augment certain races’ spell-casting arsenal. Perhaps most importantly for long-term replayability, you can also expect to see the occasional new Legendary Lord who will shake up a race’s strategic potential in interesting new ways. Last but not least, towards the end of the year we will add a new playable race to the game, including new Legendary Lords, magic items, quest chains, and units.” (Blog Post)
